Using Quark Express and Photoshop Elements 4.0, I now have completed my final design for a Digipak album which is named 'Lure of my Memories'. Surprisingly, with little time and loads of work, it looks very effective amongst the audience.
Front Panel:
- A full sized effective photo of the artist which I added colour correction effects to make it more blue and sharpened.
- I used the blur tool to smoothen the artist's face making the photo look more professional and air brushed.
- Using the smudge/blur tool to smoothen out the background surroundings making the artist's body and face the focal point of the front panel.
- Parental Advisory logo placed on right hand corner aiming at older generation since there is explicit content contained in the lyrics.
- I duplicated the layer of the Artist's name to make it darker and stand out more as the original text which I had used from www.cooltext.com wasn't bold enough.
- Silver colour for the album name using a more sans serif font and a smaller size making the front panel more simple but professional.
Inside Panels:
- 2 Mid shot photos of Artist which both have been colour corrected and used more saturation in the colour.
- Used the sharpen tool to bring out fine details from both photographs.
- No dedications used as I thought it looked better as two calm photos.
- Inside panels binary to front/back panels because it is dispersed but yet showing serenity.
- CD template used to show audience where the actual CD will be stored.
From my point of view, I think my digipak looks very well presented and shows I have thought about the functions of a professional Digipak and what they require. Also I think it shows that I have done a lot of research and planning.
I one thing I found difficult was using the programme Photoshop Elements itself as I am used to using Photoimpact 11. Getting used to new tools and special ways to change a normal photo into a bright and vibrant airbrushed photo.
Hi Denneta
ReplyDeleteI can't see your draft evaluation so I'm commenting here. You've missed the draft deadline but I will say that your other work is really good, and some of it will be directly transferable to the evaluation. Your work here on the CD cover for instance, maps directly over into Question 3. If your are able to write at this level of detail you'll get a good mark - but this would really be improved by getting a draft up for us to see and feedback on! Please do so asap. Dan
