Summary of Andrew Goodwin's Theory (Research - Summary)

Andrew Goodwin's theory is that traditional narrative formats are not carried out in music videos and differentiate to that of films and novels;

1. Traditional narrative structures (normality-problem-resolution) are not present in pop videos

2. The narrator and character are portrayed by the artist

3. The viewer is almost allowed to be involved as the artist constantly focuses on looking at the camera grasping he audiences attention, differentiating from a normal story like scenario.

Also Andrew Goodwin says that although pop videos do not have complete closure like that of a 'resolution' there is sometimes a climax or a repition then fading away to finish off as and ending.
